MilSpouse Friday Fill-In #13

It's time for the MilSpouse Friday Fill-In. I am linking up with Wife of a Sailor. It's a great way for Military Spouses to get to visit each others blogs and get to know about each other. Each week Wife of a Sailor posts five questions for us to answer. We post them on our blog, and then go lnk-up to Wife of a Sailor's blog. Here are the five questions, and my answers this week:

1)How do you spend your deployment money, do you save, pay off bills or enjoy the extra money while it is there to buy the things you do not normally have? (from Troop Petrie)
I always save the extra money that we occur during deployments. We act as if that money is not even there. Of course, we have always lived off the same amount of money we made going into the military. With each advancement, or pay increase, we still live the same as we always have.

2)If you could relive one occasion or moment, what would it be? (from Currently On Land)
If I could relive one occasion or moment, it would be my wedding day. In fact, we are going to renew our wedding vows, and have a blessing of our marriage, in the not-so-distant future.

*not-so-distant future is a word that my husband brought to our relationship. While we were dating, everytime I would "nag" him about when something is going to happen, he would always promise me that it would happen in the not-so-distant future.* : )

3)What’s the worst job you ever had and if it was so bad why did you take it? (from Faith and Deploying) The worst job I ever had was waiting tables at an authentic Italian restaurant. I took the job because I was paying my way through college, and I made fantastic tips. Unfortunately, the job also came with many unwanted advances from a few of the employees who thought I couldn't resist an Italian man, and that every woman would jump at the chance to run away to Italy with them.

4)If you could play any character on TV, who would you be? (from Many Waters) I would be Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) from CSI.

5)If you could become the world’s expert in something, what would it be? (from Army of Two) If I could become the world's expert in something I would be the "World's Expert Jack-of-All-Trades."

Acai Daily Cleanse (Update 1)

Agro Labs Acai Daily Cleanse, 32-Fluid Ounce Bottle
I am a little sad, and a lot disappointed, to give y'all my first update of my Acai Daily Cleanse. You see, I messed up. I don't know why, but I started off taking 4 tsps. instead of 4 Tbsps. Well, I know why I did it, but being a person that loves to cook and bake, I should have noticed right away. I had this little plastic cup that I thought would be perfect for the Acai Daily Cleanse. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that it was 4 tsps. instead of 4 Tbsps. So, I am back to square one, and I will keep y'all updated.

Transforming My Tank Top

This is my beloved ol' white Victoria's Secret tank top.

Notice the black/smudgy, icky spots all over it. I wore it over my bathing suit at the beach. I put it in the wet clothing bag and forgot about it for a bit. Enter the black/smudgy, icky spots. A couple of weeks ago I donated several bags of clothing, but I decided to not part with my beloved white tank top. I had other ideas for it...I've been procrastinating for a while, but last night I decided to get on with it...

First I got out my stainless steel bowl. I put it in the sink and filled it with 4 cups of cold water.

Next, I added 4 Tbsp. of salt . (I used kosher salt,) and stirred the water.

Then, I added this dye...

...and stirred.

Next, I put my beloved white tank top in the water.

Following the directions, I stirred the water for 15 minutes straight. Then, I set a timer for 45 minutes and stirred the water periodically. I did add some extra water just to make sure the shirt had enough water to
move around.

After the timer went off, I rinsed the shirt well in cold water.

Then, I washed the tank top in warm water and hung it out to dry.

Enter, my "new" beloved ocean blue tank top!

Try this at home. I got one of the cheapest dyes out there. I am quite proud of my "new" tank top!

Have fun!

Friday Fails

I am linking up to Myra over at My Blessed Life for Friday Fails this week. So, without further is my fail for the week:
I knew it was coming. I went to the Homeschool Group meeting a couple of weeks ago. They handed out the paper work. I was sure that I would remember that the Annual Homeschool Group Kick-Off was today...September 10, 2010. So, there I was last night. It was late and  it was time to turn in for the night. After a few minutes of seemingly relaxation...(?) I sat up in a hurry. Hmm...I better go check that calendar. Sure enough the homeschool group meets tomorrow. Of course, I see that it does. What bothered me the most is that I read the time and what followed...11:00 a.m...Bring Your Own Picnic. So, there I was at 10:00 at night starting a loaf of bread in the breadmaker for lunch today. Given my short amount of planning our lunch turned out okay, and we made it there on time, (which is surprising in itself.) Did I mention that I didn't know how to get to the place the meeting was held at? I looked that up online while the bread was baking. (c:

If you have a fail this week go link up with Myra at My Blessed Life.

Milspouse Friday Fill-In #12

It's time for Milspose Friday Fill-In. This is where military spouse bloggers get to know each other. This is hosted by Wife of a Sailor. To join in go grab the questions, answer them, and link-up at Wife of a Sailor's blog. Here are the questions and my answers for the week.

1) Do you set goals for yourself during deployment? What are some of them? (from Military Mommy) I do set goals for myself during deployment. The goals I set usually pertain to exercise and healthy eating. It's easy to not plan and cook 5 course meals when your spouse is gone. I have to keep on track with that.

2) What would you say to someone dating a military guy or gal? (from Mothering Off the Cuff)
If someone dating the military asked for my advice I would tell them to not expect plans to follow through. I would tell them to not get upset with their boyfriend or girlfriend if the military comes first. I would tell girlfriends to not be jealous of females in the military. I would tell them to be certain that they want to marry the military; and if they are certain, to be prepared to spend a lot of anniversaries and other special dates alone. Last, but not is nothing like marriage.

3) If you have children, how do you prepare them to move to a new place? (from The Random Ramblings of A Household 6) We just talk about it  a lot before it happens. There is only so much you can say and do. Children go through a certain age when they thinks it's fun to move and discover new places.

4)Name one hobby that gets you through alone time. (from My Sailor’s Mistress)
Umm...One hobby that gets me through alone time is eating...hehehe..Nah, I like exercise and music. If by alone time you mean actually being alone, that truly might mean stuffing my face and watching shows on my TiVo in the middle of the night.

5)What’s the one food you don’t ever get tired of? (from That Army Wife Life) One food that I never get tired of is shrimp. To be less specific...seafood.

That's all for this weeks edition of Milspouse Friday Fill-In. Tune in next week to read more about my life. (c:
