This week, in
Married to the Military Monday, I'll be telling you about last week. You see, I had every intention of starting this last week. So, without further ado; here is the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The good thing about this past week was the 'No Dough' Dinner Every two weeks the USO has some organization, such as the Lions Club,or a company host what is labeled as 'No Dough' Dinner. It is a free dinner for the military member and their families. Sometimes you get lucky and Papa John's Pizza has hosted the dinner. Other times, there's delicious barbecue from a local restaurant. Then, there are times when the food is served and it's not so good...think beans dumped straight out of the can into a pot and simply heated. Then, you just head to the salad table and fill up there, or grab you some goodies from the dessert table. Either way, I don't complain. It's free food and I always look at it as my evening off. 'No Dough' Dinner helps tremendously with my menu planning.
Well, onto the bad/sad part of
Married to the Military Monday. Unfortunately, my husband missed yet another birthday of mine this year. He's spent one birthday out of the last 5 with me. That makes me sad. I have heard time and time again that birthdays don't matter after you get older. I have thought that way in the past myself. After I gave myself to God I realized that every birthday is a blessing. I don't expect fancy things for my birthday, but I would like to spend my birthday with my husband. Next year's not looking like a good time to do that either. It wouldn't be so bad But, Valentine's Day, our Anniversary, and my birthday fall in that order, and he made none of those dates this year, or last. I'll keep you posted...(c:
So,out of fun, I promised you the ugly this time too...Well, to leave it at a minimum I'll tell you this...I visited the ship to have dinner with my husband after church the Sunday before last.(He was on duty.) Some of those guys are just not nice. My family and I were trying to spend time with my husband, but kept getting rudely interrupted. I understand that my husband has a job to perform, but their demands were above and beyond my husband's call of duty. They were asking him to do things that would make them and their spouses comfortable. (i.e. "I have my wife over here with me...could you play us a movie...by the way we decided we don't like that movie...put another one on...") Yes, my husband is in charge of the movie system, but his job is not to please you and your spouses while you try to have a date night on the ship...and good grief...use your polite words, don't just walk in here like you own the place.
So, that's all for this weeks issue of
Married to the Military Monday. Join me again next week. (c:
